Meet Our Board
Lauren is a certified cat lady (see left, circa 1989), poop-scooping aficionado, & founder of the kookiness that is Purr Catfe. After 15 years on the West Coast, several unused advanced degrees from the University of Washington, & way too many years in real estate, she ventured back home to Arkansas & realized her dream of “just wanting to pet cats all day.” Lauren is of the belief that our local shelters are stacked with some serious heroes & is committed to supporting their efforts as much as humanly possible. She has two house buds: Bea Marie Arthur, a native of Mars (or perhaps some planet as yet unknown where the cats are very strange indeed); & Marcia P. Cunningham, a certified Purr NWA bud.
Justine Lentz is one of our local shelter heroes. She has been the superintendent at Fayetteville Animal Services since 2009, from which time the live release rate has gone from 60% to over 90% (HUZZAH!) Justine is Arkansas through & through – originally from Harrison, she attended University of Arkansas as an undergraduate & continued to the U of A School of Law. Justine has four fantastic drooly dog buds, an amazing 11-year old Persian bud, Mr. Jinx, & a family that includes one cat -obsessed 3-year old girl & a very laid back husband. She lives in Fayetteville and loves reading and enjoying the awesomeness that is Northwest Arkansas. She is one unstoppable animal-saving rock star!
Michelle is a general wonder-human & boss business lady with Church & Dwight. She has a long history of impressing in the corporate arena &, on top of all her accomplishments, her love of these buds is endless. She has been integral in providing much-needed assistance to this little shop from our earliest months on. Her support, her compassion & her general I-want-to-be-that-lady-when-I-grow-up’ness make her such a positive & positively critical part of our mission.
Shana has been adopting animals into her family since the ripe ole age of 5, when she convinced her parents to rescue a neighborhood dog, Boozer, from the local shelter. Shana met Lauren during the Grand Opening of the Purr Catfe in 2017- the same day she met her beloved ginger, George. George and Purr stole her heart that day, and she adopted him one week later. About 6 months later, she adopted a second cat, little cross eyed Jenna Big, and her furr family was complete!
When Shana isn’t volunteering at Purr or cuddling her furr babies, she serves as the Executive Officer for the Northwest Arkansas Home Builders Association. She also loves to support her beloved Arkansas Razorbacks as a feature Anthem singer at University sporting events. Her community connections and event planning experience will help take Purr Catfe to the next level.
